ScribblePad — Privacy Policy

ScribblePad is a handwriting and note-taking app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. We designed it to be private by default: your notes live on your device and, if you choose, in your own cloud accounts. We do not run any servers, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.

What data the app handles

• Your notes and their content (handwriting, text, images, imported PDFs, audio recordings, and recognized text). These are stored on your device inside the app's storage.
• Handwriting recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Recognized text never leaves your device except as part of a note you choose to sync or export.
• Voice transcription (optional). Transcribing an audio recording is off unless you start it. When you tap Transcribe, you choose how it runs:
  • On device — recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Speech framework; the audio and the transcript never leave your device except as part of a note you choose to sync or export.
  • Apple Cloud — for a more accurate transcript, the recording's audio is sent to Apple's speech-recognition service for processing, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We operate no servers and never receive your audio; the transcript Apple returns is stored inside your note on your device. You choose this option explicitly, per recording — nothing is uploaded automatically.

We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, contacts, location, or any usage tracking in this version of the app.

Optional cloud backup and sync (you control this)

• Google Drive (optional). If you connect Google Drive, the app uses the drive.file scope, which means it can only access files it creates in your Drive — it cannot see or read any of your other Drive files. Your notes are uploaded to your own Google Drive for backup and cross-device sync. You can disconnect at any time in Settings. Authentication is handled by Google's official sign-in; we never see your Google password, and any token is stored securely in the device Keychain.
• iCloud (optional). If enabled, notes sync across your Apple devices through your own iCloud account, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

In both cases the data goes to your cloud account, not to us. We have no backend and no copy of your content.

Permissions the app may request

• Microphone — only when you record audio alongside your notes.
• Speech Recognition — only to transcribe a recording when you tap Transcribe. On-device mode processes it locally; if you choose Apple Cloud, the recording's audio is sent to Apple's speech service for that transcription.
• Photos — only when you insert an image you pick.

These are used solely for the feature you invoke and are stored in your note.

Children's privacy

ScribblePad does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app collects no personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled (for example, optional ads in a future version), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
